Our wines are designed to be the origin of a legacy of winemaking inspired by our French and Swiss heritage that our family will carry on into the future of the Sun Hill Estate.

About Our Wines

Our original idea was to create a very French inspired wine in the heart of Sonoma County from the best components available. Our team took some of the best blocks for growing beautiful and elegant full bodied French style wines, with bright acidity and rich flavors to create the wine we’ve had in mind for a long time.

Our winemaking team hand chose the specific vineyard block selection from over 15 different locations because of their specific qualities they would bring to the wine. The two Cabernet Sauvignon blocks from Alexander Valley provide structure, bold tannins and dark fruits. The Yountville Cabernet Frang provides the bright fruit and complexity of the nose; the raspberry, cherry, currents. The Dry Creek Merlot provides the richness and soft middle pallet that keeps the wine together and provides great “mouth feel”. It also contributes to the blackberry notes, and plum, prune mid-pallet The Atlas Peak Petit Verdot gives the wine dark color, and very subtle violet, lavender aromas, as well as a fresh herbaceous quality.

The wine is deep and complex because of the intricate combination of vineyard and varietal selections, and stands apart from a single vineyard wine because of the uniquely different soils, growing seasons, and terroirs. It will love complex bold foods. (Demi-glace with red meat, Boeuf Bourguignon, Espresso Dry rubs on Ribeye.) Here is the master blend sheet for the 2021 Golden Thread wine: + Petit
